Accessibility Statement

Last updated August 18, 2026

Supporting local shouldn't depend on how you use a computer. We build Market Bee to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, and reduced motion. We are not perfect at it — the known gaps are listed below, and we want to hear about the ones we have missed.

This summary is here to orient you. The numbered sections below are the terms that actually apply.

1. Our commitment

Market Bee is committed to making the Service usable by as many people as possible, including people with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We treat an accessibility barrier as a bug, not a feature request.

2. The standard we build to

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the benchmark most commonly referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act and in Section 508 procurement.

We describe our conformance as partial: most of the Service meets the standard, and the exceptions we know about are listed below. We have not commissioned a formal third-party audit, and we will say so plainly rather than claim a level of conformance we have not verified.

3. What we have done

  • Semantic HTML with landmark regions and a logical heading order, so screen readers can navigate by structure.
  • Interactive components built on accessible primitives that ship with keyboard interaction, focus management, and ARIA roles — dialogs trap focus and return it, menus and tabs follow the expected arrow-key patterns.
  • Visible focus indicators, and a keyboard path to every interactive control.
  • Form fields with associated labels, and errors reported in text rather than by color alone.
  • Color pairings chosen to meet AA contrast in both light and dark themes.
  • Alternative text on the images we author, and a requirement that vendors describe their own images.
  • Respect for the operating system's reduced-motion preference in animations and transitions.
  • Layouts that reflow to 320px and remain usable at 200% zoom.

4. Known limitations

We would rather list these than let you discover them:

  • The interactive map. Panning and zooming a vector map is difficult to make fully keyboard- and screen-reader-accessible. Every vendor and market on the map is also reachable without it — browse the vendor and product listings or use search, which work with a keyboard and a screen reader and expose the same information.
  • Vendor-supplied content. Product photographs, descriptions, and announcements are written and uploaded by independent vendors. Some images may have missing or unhelpful alternative text, and some descriptions may rely on the image alone. We ask vendors to do better and we will correct specific cases when they are reported.
  • Data tables and charts. Some dashboard tables and analytics charts are dense and may be awkward with a screen reader. Charts are accompanied by their underlying numbers wherever we have been able to provide them.
  • Calendar and scheduling views. The preorder calendar is complex to operate by keyboard; list views of the same preorders are available and fully operable.
  • Third-party embeds. Content served by our map and email providers is outside our direct control.

5. Tell us about a barrier

If any part of the Service is difficult or impossible for you to use, email accessibility@themarketbee.com or use our contact page. Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using — that is usually enough for us to reproduce it.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to tell you what we plan to do and roughly when. If a fix will take time, we will offer another way to get what you needed in the meantime.

If you need information that is only available in an inaccessible format — a vendor's product details, a market's schedule — contact us and we will provide it another way.

6. Ongoing work

We review accessibility as part of building new features rather than as a cleanup pass afterward, test with keyboard navigation and screen readers, and treat reported barriers as prioritized bugs. This statement is reviewed as the Service changes.
